Hands up for O.C.

Opening Ceremony Fall 14- Images curtesy of Vogue.com

Raise your hands if you want to get your grubby mitts on that oversized ruffle enlarged fingerprint top... Do I get two if I raise both?!

I think opening Ceremony were trying make their mark on the catwalk this Fall and I guess what better way to do this than to send your fingerprint storming down the catwalk and leaving its DNA on each admiring front row viewer.
Even though oversized fingerprints and raised hands were the talking point of this collection OC didn't fail in creating an inspiring display of garment shapes. Combining fabrics, textures, color and print OC supplied a good playful collection for a sophisticated young audience.

High five OC, a show "stop right now, thank you very much" (as the spice girls would say with hand actions) ing collection.

What a Waist

Chanel Couture S/S 14

It was all about the waist and a few touches of everyones favorite 90's roller disco at the Chanel Couture S/S 14 show. Making Chanel even harder to wear for us paupers, apparently now you also need to buy a corset to wear underneath your Couture design so you are not at high risk of looking like a pig trying to escape its elegantly crafted blanket.
I do too wonder who comes up with these ideas for accessories, how many Chanel clad skaters do you see down your local skate park …. exactly. So what ever possesses Chanel to make elbow protectors?? "Because they are Chanel and they can do what they want" I hear you saying. Correct they can do whatever they want and no one would dare batt a heavily massacred eyelid, but I have another conclusion from my synopsis- Chanel have indeed worked out that the only people left on this earth who are not still paying their student loans 20 years later, who have not got a mortgage because you could swap a bean for a cow in their day and who aren't spending the majority of their time online being subconsciously targeted into spending unnecessary amounts of money on that bath mat they just really don't need…. basically the ones with money are the old folks …. and what goes better with a Stannah chair lift than some Chanel knee and elbow pads to protect that expensive fragile skin.

Dogwalk

Mulberry S/S 2014

Mulberry's British (of course) Bulldog named Turbo had his time to shine this season as he strutted his stuff down the Mulberry S/S 14 catwalk. With his own canine garments Turbo showed that dogs can do it just as well, if not better, than those cats. Just look at that chubby little face, talk about pulling at the heart strings of dog lovers worldwide.

Although the dog may have been my main interest in the show, Mulberry also displayed a very chic, sporty and clean collection with wide cropped culottes, sophisticated prints and simple t-shirt shapes. Masculine to the right degree this show was right down my street, dogs and all.

Hannah, Aged 23 ,Looking for a Boyfriend

Coat with Large Lapel- $79.99

Studio Jacket- $239

Masculine Studio Overcoat- $299

Double-breasted Coat- $179

Checked Coat- $189

So when I say boyfriend I'm obviously talking about the coat everyone is rocking this season .. come on I'm not that desperate….
Sadly I had to depart with my trusty Topshop Boyfriend coat from last winter. It got to a stage of no return after wearing it pretty much the entire season so I had to 'man-up' and break-up with the beloved camel oversized masculine garment in faith that one just as good was lurking on the horizon.
Unfortunately this year that hasn't been the case and I am struggling to match last years companion, you don't know what you've got until its gone right !?
But don't fear theres a light at the end of the tunnel! Every winter Zara manages to get it spot on with their coats, I don't know whether its a great eye for trend, sophistication and style or an expert ability to subtly 're-create' … cough …. Sandro…. cough …. the top designers. Either way doesn't bother me as it means we paupers get the runway at a fraction of the price, thanks Zara.

These are my top 'internet dating' picks I am going hunting for this lunchtime.

Introducing Minju Kim

"Dear my friend" Collection by Minju Kim

"Dear my friend" Collection by Minju Kim

WHO ? Some of you may be asking, but just wait a few years and this name will be engraved in your fashion design dictionary.  The winner of H&M's Design Award 2013 Minju Kim is now on the way to fashion stardom and if her first collection is anything to go by I am SO excited to see her career unfold.

Her fun, playful, bright and wacky collection of expertly crafted beautiful fabrics makes you wonder what's taken so long for this style of garment to grace our catwalks. With oversized silhouettes being a must every Autumn this collection could not be more appropriate to todays 'dare to wear' style fashion consumers. Encompassing this seasons pastel palette, fur, and craft in a elegant, wearable, young and contemporary way, what more could you want.

Congratulations Minju Kim, I am dying to see wants next …

Making a daisy chain and putting it in your hair has probably never been as fashionable as it is about to be. With major fashion houses such as Chanel, Prada and Moschino contributing to the daisy trend the prints can be seen all over the Resort runway, the little flower is making a big fashion statement.
My favorite collection has to be Moschino Cheap & Chic Cruise/ Resort 2014. The sixties meets the bohemian girl in a field of daisies, very chic ... but maybe not as cheap as one had hoped.

A photographic printed paradise.

Mary Katrantzou never fails to amaze me with every garment she sends down the catwalk each season. This fall collection sees Mary moving away from her original style of bold colorful, vibrant prints and in a more muted, photographic direction. Mary has been a leader in color and print since she burst onto the scene in London in 2009 so this Fall 13 has been a shock to many a faithful Katrantzou customer, forcing them to stray from their safety nets and switch up their fashion in a way they may never have thought they would.

"I wanted to step back from color and print and contemplate shapes and silhouettes. It was important for me to take that time"

In my opinion the brave change has not only caught many more fashion followers attention but shown a different side of the Katrantzou brand, a much edgier, moodier and intriguing side which I can't wait to see more of in the future.
